There is a "thing" among newborn photographers where they say that newborn sessions MUST take place in the first two weeks....I have even heard of photographers NOT doing a session for someone whose babies are past that 14 day mark!  Well, ideally, we all agree that the sooner the session the better...babies do tend to sleep deeper in those first weeks AND the longer they are out of the womb the more they stiffen and start to stretch out BUT there are always exceptions...I've done sessions at 5 days with "non-cooperative" babies and I've done sessions where the little one was 4 weeks old and they did great....as much as I think we would like to control the situation, the truth is that every baby is different and they may even be different from one day to the next.  As much as I like being called a "baby whisperer", I think babies do the work themselves, all I can do is provide the right environment and do my best.

That being said, this little one was just about 3 weeks when we did her session AND about 11 lbs....now, notoriously bigger babies are harder to "scrunch" up into tight little poses, they are jus too squishy...but boy do I love that squish!  And NORA rocked her entire session all 11 lbs of squishy, 21 day goodness!

Please don't think you missed your newborn "window"!  I never want to turn someone away!  There is NEVER a bad time to capture photos of your little one!
