Here's the truth and nothin' but the truth.  

Babies are unpredictable.  

Babies have their own will.  

Babies don't like to be told what to do.  

Babies can have bad days.  

Babies don't care that it's their birthday.  

Babies don't care that we have been planning their One Year photo shoot for weeks.  

Most babies don't even like cake.

No one can read a babies mind. 

We plan, we prep, make sure they are rested and fed.  We plan the session during their "happy time" of the day, but it doesn't always matter.  

Case in point.  

Meet Julia!  One of THEE cutest doll face little ones I have ever met!  All smiles....until we set her on the set.  Now, you may be thinking, "wait...I see lots of smiles in these pictures!" True.  We did manage to get some adorable images - but on HER schedule!  Lots of breaks, snacks, play time....We thought she was ready for the cake lots of times, but each time, she hated it and we had to "start over"!  Our saving grace?  Gerber Puffs!  She LOVED playing with them, dumping them out, eating them....basically everything we wanted her to do with the cake, she did with the puffs!  I am so happy when moms and dads recognize the nature of where their little ones are at and can be excited and happy about "not what I hoped for" pictures....She's holding rattles, baby shark toys, puffs, pumpkins, balloons....we grabbed whatever we could to make this happen!  Some faces are happy, so are not...but mom loved them all.  This is where she is at.  This is her.  This is what I strive to capture.  Your baby.  Where they are at.  One picture never tells the whole story!  I hope you enjoy these as much as I do, and that's the truth!
